A new kit and t-shirts to boot for the Ancients as they travelled to Knutsford to take on the Kasuals. The heavens has opened and the pitch soon became a mud bath. lots of strong running from both sides, and great defence was on show. It was however the home side that opened the scoring working the ball wide after some forward pressure and scoring in the corner.
Most of the games was being played in the midfield as both team continued to try and make inroads. It was great to see some players on the field for the first time in many year, messers John Tottill and Steve Hatton showing they've still got it. As the game went on Chapel had several close moments but were unable to cross the whitewash as Knutsfords defence remained. The home side however, did take further advantage of their opportunities when they crashed over for another try late on.
A game played in a great spirit and both teams look forward to the return match early April.
