Holmes Chapel RUFC 1st XV secured the Freshlet Division 4 South Championship with a 68-14 win over a battling Sandbach 3s side. An early Try from Bob Hamilton got Chapel off to the perfect start, but Sandbach were straight back in it with a well worked try of their own. Further tires from Jack Cottam, Tom Chambers and Andy Davies put the villagers in a strong position as the pressure continued, although the visitors were making it tough for the home side but it remained 26-7 at halft time.
Sandbach came out strong in the second half and immediately reduced the deficit with their second try. Another well worked move from Chapel finished off by Luke Day gave some breathing space and further tries from Andy Davies, Nathan Stewart and Ged Wragg put the game out of reach for the visitors although they never gave up and continued with their spirited performance. Chapel however were not finished Another Stewart try, added to by Will Mitchell and Joe Maddock left it 68-14 at the finish. Man of the match was awarded to Nathan Stewart for a fine all round performance.
