Having won their last two outings Chapel seconds were determined to keep their run going and make it three on the trot. Although Linley are struggling at the foot of the table Chapel knew they would be competitive.
It proved to be a battle upfront as the visitors fought hard in the set piece and the breakdown. Craig Wardle proving to be a thorn in their side with numerous tackles and turnovers. Aided by Steve Cockoran, Ben Jackson, Neil Almond and Steve Leyland amongst others.
The villagers were able to score three first half tries and despite some solid defence by Linley and they led 17-0 at the break.
The second half continued much same as the first, Linley to their credit were not going to give up and were close the the chapel line on several occasions, some fine breaks by the visitors fullback and some intense forward pressure meant the chapel defence had to be organised and strong to hold firm.
Chapel who were enjoying plenty of ball in hand continued to keep the score board moving, more tries notably from from Jed Wragg and Steve Hatton put the game out of reach for the visitors and Chapel went on to win 36-0. Noticeable debuts for both Sam Hockenhull and Sean Williams who both put in solid performances.
A hard fought victory and a game played in excellent spirit. Chapel would like to wish Linley well for the rest of the season.
