Holmes Chapel 1st XV made it 3 wins in a row on Saturday as they defeated a determined Linley side at Station Road. Neither side could get the upper hand in the opening exchanges in an uncompromising battle, and the game unfortunately resulted in uncontested scrums when Chapel lost both their starting prop and front-row replacement due to injury. The only score in the first half came on 30 minutes when Ed Meyrick spotted a gap and touched down in the corner (converted by Stewart Butters).
The game opened up after the break with Tom Chambers scoring after an offload from Mark Mcenaney (conversion Butters) and Linley hitting back with a converted try of their own while Jon Griffin was in the sin-bin for a late tackle. Chapel soon extended their lead with 2 more converted tries to take the winning bonus point for the fourth time this season.
