Great Comeback by 1st XV

Holmes Chapel 1st XV returned to winning ways last Saturday with a fantastic comeback against Capenhurst. The visitors had beaten Chapel comfortably earlier in the season and looked set for a repeat when they stormed to a 19-0 lead and led 22-5 at half-time. However a barnstorming second half performance from the home side brought them back into the match and within touching distance at 22-19. Capenhurst increased their lead with an unconverted try but Chapel hit back again to bring the scoreline to 27-26. With 2 minutes to go Kristian Clowes scored a close-range penalty to take Chapel ahead for the first time and they hung on to claim a morale-boosting victory.
