1st XV Stay On Track For Promotion - Just!

Last Saturday Chapel welcomed Liverpool Collegiate to Station Road. With Chester back in the league, Chapel knew 2 wins from 2 would mean they were promoted.

Chapel started nervously with some individual errors giving away possession. Collegiate capitalised by scoring the first try. Chapel then ramped up the pressure and the forwards got some strong phases under their belt. The breakthrough for Chapel came when centre Jim Moss burst through the defence from a scrum move, making it a try apiece. Ally Lightfoot added the second after some excellent support play.

Chapel with a narrow lead at HT were keen to keep up the pressure. An early yellow card for Tom Chambers meant Chapel were down to 14 men. Despite this, Chapel were able to keep the score still. Tom, returning, quickly increased the score for Chapel when he gathered a loose ball and raced through. Collegiate started to get back into the game and were starting to ruffle some Chapel feathers. This unrest led to a drop in Chapel’s attacking play. Soon, 2 yellow cards followed and Chapel were down to 13. Some strong defensive work was not enough to keep out Collegiate and they scraped themselves to back within 4. The boys on blue held out to take the hard fought victory.

Not the prettiest of games and Chapel’s disciple was questionable but the hard work was there to see. Man of the Match went to centre Jim Moss who was the best player on the field in attack. Chapel would like to thank JMA Facade Designs for their continued support.
