Maddock leads the way as CHapel retain top spot

Holmes Chapel continued their winning streak with a victory at home to Linley. Having turned up with less than 15 players, Chapel had lent the visitors a couple, It wasn't long before Dom Moss's side opened the scoring and they looked to capitalise on their advantage.
The forward were winning the set piece, which was allowing some fine free flowing rugby from the back line. Joe Maddock showing good skills at centre bursting through the visitors defense on a number of occasions.

Having played Linley & Kidsgrove many times at various levels over the years, Chapel knew they'd never give up and would continue to make things difficult for the home side. This was evident as there forward pack had good periods in the game. Chapel had to be on their guard and some fine tackling upfront in particular from Conor Gavin and Calum Grant-Smith made sure the Linley charge was halted. Ed Chapell and Adam Armitt were also putting in strong performances as Chapel were able to run a few more scores before the break, with Grant-Smith and the versatile Jack Baskerville crossing the whitewash.

Liney came out strong in the second half and started to make things difficult for the home side, so strong running up front giving them good ball for their backs to attack with. They were duly rewarded and got there sole try of the afternoon.

Chapel came back with vigour, more tries folowed as the points started to mount up, Mike Lightfoot controlling the game well from number 10 allowing the backs to cross the line several more times, with some good performances from Nath Stewart and the ageless Neil Almond. The score line in the end finished Holmes Chapel 99 Linley and Kidsgrove 5.

Holmes Chapel would like to thank Linley for the game and applaud their never say die attitude. Captain Moss said, “it was another good performance from the lads, although there's lots of hard work ahead if we are to continue to make an impact in this league”. Players are reminded that training continues on Wednesday evening and the club wouls like to thank its sponsor Pochin for its continued support.
